King Cruiser Wreck

The 85 meter steel - hulled King Cruiser passenger ferry sunk during May of 1997 by hitting Anemone Reef on the way to Phi Phi Island. Fortunately no lives were lost during the accident. This huge catamaran now rests within the Shark Point Marine Sanctuary in about 32 meters of water on a sandy bottom and about 15m on top.

The Kingcruiser used to be considered safe for penetration. In 2003 the stern top deck collapsed and more recently there has been further deterioration so penetration is no longer safe. There are huge schools of fish all over the wreck trevellay, mackerel and yellow tail barracuda along with rabbitfish, surgeonfish and many other schooling fish. Hundreds of scorpionfish are usually camouflaged almost everywhere on the rusting steelwork of the wreck. This dive is for experienced divers only as it is subect to frequent strong currents and low season rough seas.

Compared with most "dive centers" in Thailand (a lot of them is just a website - a "Virtual Dive Company") - Scuba Cat owns their own fleet of diving boats and have been in operation since 1994. If you do a Course or a Dive Career Package with us, all your dives will be from one of our own dive boats, not "we got to do a beach dive, 'cause it is not enough students" or from a "last minute rented long tail boat, 'cause all the other boats are full".
