Karon Beach

Karon Beach

Karon Beach - Phuket is the second largest of Phuket's principal tourist beaches and the town adjoining it, on the western coast of Phuket Thailand.

Large resort complexes line the road back of the beach, but the beach itself, 3 km long and broad, has no development. The sand is very white and squeaks audibly when walked on. The southern point has a fine coral reef stretching toward Kata and Poo Island. Restaurants, bars, tour companies and other non-hotel businesses are at the north end, near the traffic circle and at the south, on the little road connecting the back road with the beach road. The beach is a popular destination for tourists as it is generally quieter than neighbouring Patong Beach. It is especially popular with Scandinavian tourists, with many businesses catering especially to them.

The narrow road between Kata and Karon has a number of small businesses as well as the Dino Park Mini Golf facility. Regular daytime bus service to and from Phuket Town. In the monsoon season it can be dangerous for swimming because of the currents so watch out for the red flags which are put up when it is to dangerous.

Compared with most "dive centers" in Thailand (a lot of them is just a website - a "Virtual Dive Company") - Scuba Cat owns their own fleet of diving boats and have been in operation since 1994. If you do a Course or a Dive Career Package with us, all your dives will be from one of our own dive boats, not "we got to do a beach dive, 'cause it is not enough students" or from a "last minute rented long tail boat, 'cause all the other boats are full".
