Liveaboards

by Scubacat

MV Scuba Cat is an ideal scuba diving platform. The design in stability is only found in a very large catamaran liveaboard boat. She operates amongst the protected waters of the Similan Islands making this the most "friendly" boat to be found...seasickness is rare. From only 12,000 Baht per person.

Laem Singh beach

Singh Cape

Laem Singh beach (Lions Point in English)- Phuket is a mall secluded beach not visible from the road that can get quite crowded during the high season. Sometimes also called Sing Cape. Easy to get to but can also be easy to miss if you are not careful.

Laem Singh beach is located a few minutes drive north of Kamala and about 1 km south of Surin in a small curving bay at the foot of forest-fringed cliffs. There is no accommodation here and not much other development except a few restaurants.

It is quite easy to miss Laem Singh, the only indication of the entrances are small handmade signs on the road between Kamala and Surin Both entrances to the beach have car parks, for which there is sometimes a small charge. If you don't fancy the steep walk down, head for the second car park on the road coming from Kamala heading north. The path here is longer but not as steep.

The beach is divided in two with lots of rocks in the water at the south end. The north end and most popular part of the beach has only a few rocks in the water. Snorkeling is best at the south end, with okay snorkeling along the rocks.

If you are bored with swimming or snorkeling there is always the option of Jet Ski, Banana Boat or Water Ski.

Beach vendors are common at Laem Singh. A few minutes after you have settled down to relax, their radars will have detected you and will approach you with very nice goods. But don't expect to pay a reasonable price for anything they sell on the beach.

Laem Singh Beach is a favorite beach for many people and the parking lot is always packed in high season.

Compared with most "dive centers" in Thailand (a lot of them is just a website - a "Virtual Dive Company") - Scuba Cat owns their own fleet of diving boats and have been in operation since 1994. If you do a Course or a Dive Career Package with us, all your dives will be from one of our own dive boats, not "we got to do a beach dive, 'cause it is not enough students" or from a "last minute rented long tail boat, 'cause all the other boats are full".
