MV Scuba Cat is an ideal scuba diving platform. The design in stability is only found in a very large catamaran liveaboard boat. She operates amongst the protected waters of the Similan Islands making this the most "friendly" boat to be found...seasickness is rare. From only 12,000 Baht per person.
Mai Khao Beach
Mai Khao Beach (White Wood) - Phuket is part of the Sirinath National Park, which also includes Nai Yang Beach, and Nai Thon, the next beaches along to the south. 9 kilometers (5 ½ miles) of deserted beach characterize Mai Khao where there is little tourist business. There is no tourist development here except for the JW Marriott Resort & Spa. A pristine white sand beach that is devoid of development and protected as part of the Sirinat National Park.
The water is fine for swimming during the dry season; the rainy season brings big waves and strong currents that are dangerous. This lonely beach is another area where sea turtles come to lay eggs. It is also home to what the Thais call a sea cicada, which is a form of marine life.
Camping is allowed but there are few facilities. If you are in search of a remote and isolated beach to have all to yourself this is it.
To get here look for the sign to JW Marriott Phuket Resort on the high-way north of Phuket International Airport. Then follow the road past the 5-star resort and soon you will be on the beach.
If you are hungry after the long trip, Thai food is available next to the beach.
Compared with most "dive centers" in Thailand (a lot of them is just a website - a "Virtual Dive Company") - Scuba Cat owns their own fleet of diving boats and have been in operation since 1994. If you do a Course or a Dive Career Package with us, all your dives will be from one of our own dive boats, not "we got to do a beach dive, 'cause it is not enough students" or from a "last minute rented long tail boat, 'cause all the other boats are full".
