Although PADI requires a PADI IDC to have a minimum duration of 7 days in preparation for the PADI Instructor Exam (IE), at Scuba Cat Diving, Phuket, Thailand we have found some extra presentations and workshops highly beneficial to our Instructor Training courses candidates success, taught by our resident PADI Platinum Course Director. To accommodate these extra presentations we have found a 12-day PADI IDC program more suitable to take you from Divemaster to PADI Instructor. What do you need to start?

• Be a PADI Divemaster or equivalent. Contact us for more information on equivalent certifications.
• Have been a diver for at least 6 months.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have 60 logged dives* including deep, night and navigation dives.
• Have proof of CPR training, such as Emergency First Response within the last 6 months.
• Have a current medical certificate signed by a doctor within the last 12 months.
• Be a current EFRi (1st March 2009)

What will you do during the PADI IDC

• Knowledge development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations.
• Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations.
• Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations.

Extra workshops during the PADI IDC include:

• Ascents and Descents, Buoyancy control, Buddy Breathing, Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent, Rescue exercises, lift bag, knots, navigation, PPB, student control and scenarios.
• Planning, organizing, scheduling all the PADI Courses in different environments.
• With a relaxed, low stress 10 day PADI IDC you can focus and elaborate on specific topics, review certain parts of the program, give extra time or lectures to our candidates.
• The main focus of our program is to give the best knowledge to our candidates before they start teaching Scuba Diving.
• 2 Remedial Days.

We added these two extra days to our PADI IDC program to give extra experience to our candidates for the PADI IE and their future Scuba Diving career.

• Confined Water Presentation.
• Open water Presentation #5 and #6.

"I started scuba diving in Europe over 20 years ago since then, diving has become my favourite activity. Before working in the dive industry, I used to work as an International Observer for the United Nations in countries such as Mozambique, Cambodia and South Africa. My main task was to implement civil education program, to teach local people how to organize elections and implement Human Rights."

Becoming an Instructor was the best combination of “Teaching and Diving”. My career as an Instructor took me to wonderful places: Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Cayman Islands, Egypt, The Philippines, Sipadan, Indonesia, Vietnam and for the last 9 years in Thailand. The contacts I have made in all these years are very useful for my PADI IDC candidates when they are looking for a Scuba Diving job.
